Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas and former Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines Oscar Cruz reacted to the recent attack of President Rodrigo Duterte to the church.

Perhaps Bishop Cruz was responded to Duterte's tirades against the church. He said that when you are against the church, then you will not last.

“Marami nang tumuligsa diyan, kaliwa’t-kanan. Lahat ng mga iyon, nakabaon na, six feet under the ground, ‘yung Simbahan andiyan pa rin," he said in his interview with Radyo Inquirer.

He also said that even if the president kept on attacking them, still nothing affected in the numbers of the churchgoers.

Earlier, Duterte slammed the church after the latter commented on the summary killings resulting from the government’s brutal war against drugs.

"When we were young, we were making confessions to you, we were being molested,” Duterte said.

“What is your moral ascendancy? You are not helping. You just keep on talking,” Duterte added.
