Finland's Black Donuts ready to build the $200-M Philippine tire factory

Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol announced on his Facebook that the Finnish tire manufacturer was already approved the Philippine Rubber Industry and are now prepared to start the building of the tire factories.

BDE Chief Executive Officer Kai Hauvala and Director Tomi Pekkola went to Mindanao to assess and validate the rubber supply. 

According to Piñol, they were impressed of the country's rubber industry.

As promised by the secretary, the two executives met him at NAIA before their flight going back. To discuss the important matters of the said project.

It is said that they plan to put up a $200-million rubber manufacturing plant in Mindanao for the next 2 years.

Earlier, Piñol said that BDE planned to construct a 50-hectare rubber manufacturing plant in Davao.

Executives of Finland's Black Donuts Engineering, a company which builds tire factories all over the world, today said they were satisfied with their assessment of the Philippine Rubber Industry and are prepared to start the groundwork for the establishment of the country's first local brand tires.

BDE Chief Executive Officer Kai Hauvala and Director Tomi Pekkola inspected rubber plantations and processing plants in North Cotabato for three days starting Wednesday and were impressed by the potentials of the country's fledgling industry.

Before flying back to Finland via Hongkong today, Hauvala and Pekkola met with me near the NAIA 3 Terminal to update me on the project.
