Bongbong Marcos originally proposed Free Education? not Bam Aquino
A video of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. talking about the free State Universities and Colleges tuition fee was the trending topic online today.
Lately, Sen. Bam Aquino attacked by the netizens after claiming that it was because of him that the proposed budget was passed.
But with regards to the video, Marcos already discussed his plan for the free SUC.
“Sa aking pananaw, panahon na para lahat ng mga estudyante ng SUC na libre na ang pag-aaral nila. Pinag-aralan naming ang budget. Alam niyo ba kung magkano?” Marcos said.
“SUC .Magkano ang magiging pondo na kakailanganin ng gobyerno para pundohan ang libreng tertiary education . Who can give me a number? Trillion? Isang daang million? 15 Billion pesos will pay for all the students in the SUC for free tertiary education,” Marcos added.
The approval of the CHED's P8.3-billion allocation for tuition in SUC's along with the rest of the P3.35-trillion national budget for 2017.
According to Marcos, to be able to have free SUC, it is only needed 15 million budget compared to the total budget of the government.
The CHED budget for next year is over P10 billion.
