Alvarez on VP Leni resigns as Housing Secretary: "I think she is FIRED"
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez was quick to set the record straight on Vice President Leni Robredo’s anouncement of her resignation from the Cabinet.
In a text message to House reporters, Alvarez said: “Considering the situation, I think she is FIRED!”
Robredo herself revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte did not want to see her anymore in the Cabinet meetings.
”Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco, Jr., relaying the President’s instruction through Bong Go for me ‘to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting this Monday,
December 5’,” said Robredo in her statement. She got the message through text as Go didn’t even bother to call her.
She said this was the last straw to Duterte’s subtle actions to make her look bad as head of the Cabinet’s housing portfolio.
The three signs that showed Duterte was setting her up for a fall were:
1) The budget for all key shelter agencies in 2017 has been slashed by more than P19 billion.
2) All key shelter agency appointment recommendations have not been acted on.
3) The Executive Order designed to make Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) effective was not signed.
Robredo also said in her statement that there was a “plot to steal the vice presidency from the people.
