President Duterte on Yolanda Housing: "Three years after, iilang tao pa lang nakatira sa bunkhouses? I am not satisfied"
President Rodrigo Duterte commented about the Yolanda housing of the past administration. He vocally said he's not satisfied considering that not all Yolanda victims have been move in.
Duterte attended that mass grave for victims of Yolanda in Tacloban City, there he expressed his disappointment with the unfinished shelters for the survivors.
"Three years after, iilang tao pa lang nakatira sa bunkhouses? It’s BS to me. I am not satisfied. Three years, wala pay nakabalhin kaayo [only a few moved to a house]," Duterte said.
"Iyang houses na iyan, 'pag hindi matapos susunod na buwan, gawan mo na lang ng crematorium," Duterte said jokingly.
President Duterte also apologized to the victims. He ordered presidential assistant Michael Diño and Robredo to finish right away the houses by December.
"In the fullness of God's time, I'll be back December. By December, gusto ko makalipat na silang lahat," Duterte said.
Duterte reiterated his will to cut the red tape in government.
“Dapat yang Yolanda, one year after tapos na ‘yan lahat, so you cut the red tape… ‘Di ko malaman san ako mag uumpisa. Is it the rules to protect the money, or the people na ayaw mag trabaho? I must admit the government has fallen short, very short of expectations from the people,” Duterte added.
