DOJ Aguirre to Ombudsman: Instead of spending time with Bato, focus on pending complaints like DAP, PDAF

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II commented in the initiated investigation of the Ombudsman towards all expense paid trip to
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.

Aguirre said the Ombudsman was just wasting time instead of focusing to bigger issues like the PDAF and DAP.

"Instead of spending time sa mga ganyang mga cases, maraming cases diyan tulad ng PDAF at DAP (Disbursement Acceleration Program)," Aguirre said.

PNP chief Bato was just welcoming the probe against him.

"Bahala na ang propriety na iyan (I don’t care about propriety). All I know is it's free so I grabbed the opportunity," Dela Rosa said.

While Senator Pacquiao also defended Dela Rosa and he said he will study first the law that stating public officials are not allowed to accept gifts.

"'Yan ang kiinukuwestiyon ko na yung batas na 'yan hindi masyado klaro. What if kasabay mo sa pagkain tapos ikaw nagbayad ng pagkain, may kaso na agad?" Pacquiao said.

Former President Benigno Aquino III and former Budget Secretary Florencio Abad are facing complaints over the DAP system.

The Office of the Ombudsman on Friday announced that a fact-finding investigation has been launched against Dela Rosa for the travel perks he received from Pacquiao.
