Albuera Mayor Espinosa begged for his life from the CIDG operatives- Warden Bardillon


Leyte provincial jail warden Homobono Bardillon on Sunday said that the last words of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa was pleading for his life and called the CIDG that he has no any firearms. 

Early Saturday morning Mayor Espinosa was killed inside in his cell in Baybay City, Leyte after the CIDG team barged into the provincial jail.

“Ayaw gyud ko ninyo plantere, sir, wa ko armas nga gitago (Please do not plant evidence sir, I’m not hiding any firearms),” Espinosa said, according to Warden Bardillon.

As the autopsy result released, it is said that Espinosa was shot four times and believed that there's a possibility that the fourth bullet was shot while he was lying.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage where according to CIDG that the mayor was armed and they had a firefight was gone missing.

Warden Bardillon said the guards were preventing the CIDG from entering due to lack of search warrant and he denied any conspiracy happened to Espinosa.

“They heard gunshots fired inside the cell of Espinosa where the slain mayor was begging (for his life) from the CIDG operatives,” Bardillon said.

He also said there were four police accompany the CIDG were just simply observe.

“They could do nothing but simply observe. Otherwise, malaking gulo (it would spell big trouble),” Bardillon said.

Also, the CIDG team was already grounded for possible queries.

“On orders of the CIDG director, they are directed to stay in their respective offices to make themselves available for any queries (about the raid) from competent authority who has official interests in the case,” PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said.
