Former President Benigno Aquino III on Friday denied that former justice secretary Leila De Lima and now a senator that she was involved in illegal drug trade.
Aquino said during his term, he never got any information that links De Lima involvement.
"Noong panahon ko, ni chismis na may papasukan si Leila na ilegal, ni chismis wala," Aquino said.
Aquino said he was trusting the due process because it was a serious accusation. He said he was hoping the truth will prevail.
"Ang bigat nitong paratang at ako'y umaasa na nandiyan ang proseso, na mapapalabas natin 'yung buong katotohanan, " Aquino added.
Aquino said it's been a month since he talked De Lima and he already showed his support to her.
"May isang buwan at kalahati na yata last time kami nagkausap. Time to time baka may text, kinakamusta ko siya, sinasabi kong pinagdarasal ko sya," Aquino said.
Earlier, De Lima also defended Aquino for linking him to the illegal drugs inside the penitentiary. It was after Aguirre commented that there may be higher yellow party that is benefited from the 'payola'.
