In the interview of Sen. Grace Poe in DZBB with Nimfa Ravelo, she said she believed that the United Nations and the European Union may have been excessively impulsive in denouncing President Rodrigo Duterte for human rights violations in his 3 months in the office.

Poe said they should study it first and not just relied on the reports that more than 3,000 claimed extrajudicial killings have been done under Duterte administration.

“Pero sabi ko nga wag lang kayo mag condemn, wag lang kayo mag bigay ng statement na ganyan. They should also study, ano bang pruweba ninyo na nanagyayari lahat yan? is it just based on statements na ilang libo na ang extra-judicial killing victims,” Poe said.

The United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights has blasted Duterte for talking against and contradicting human rights organizations and examinations.

Hussein said that Duterte ought to welcome Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, synopsis or subjective executions to investigate the reported outline killings.

“Empowering police forces to shoot to kill any individual whom they claim to suspect of drug crimes, with or without evidence, undermines justice. The people of the Philippines have a right to judicial institutions that are impartial, and operate under due process guarantees, and they have a right to a police force that serves justice.” High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said during a Human Rights Council meeting last week.

The EU Parliament which includes Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Sweden, Portugal and Finland, just a week ago asked President Duterte to stop the extrajudicial killings.

“President Duterte publicly stated he would not pursue law enforcement officers and citizens who killed drug dealers who resisted arrest,” said the EU members statement.

Be that as it may, Poe said he she wouldn't fret the UN and EU communicating its worry over the Philippines as long they don't encroach on the nation's autonomy.

“If they care for our country, okay lang, that’s their right. Hayaan mo lang sila, dapat naman talaga may pakiaalam tayo sa lahat ng komunidad sa buong Mundo kung may katotohanan talk. Basta hindi natin ina-abdicate ang ating territorial integrity, national sovereignity,” Poe said.
