President Duterte plans to hire "Gurkhas" to crush Abu sayyaf

After bombing happened at Davao City, The DA Secretary Manny Piñol shared that the President may hire the deadly Gurkhas to crush down Abu sayyaf.

“If I have to hire the Gurkhas to help us fight the Abu Sayyaf, I am willing to do it,” he told the national security officials and cabinet members during the meeting in Matina, Davao City.

Gurkhas are the fearsome Nepalese fighters who are working with the British Army, their motto is “Better to die than to be a coward”.

They are known for carrying their traditional weapon known as the kukri and according to some rumours, their kukri must taste blood in the battle or else they need to cut theirselves.

Young people who wants to become a “Gurkha” must run uphill for 40 minutes, carrying a basket in their back filled with rocks weighing 31 Kilos.

After the bombing in Davao City, the President is now more determined to destroy the terrorist group.

“There’s no other option. These people are like germs which must be eliminated,” the President said.

Davao City - President Rody Duterte last night vowed to crush the Abu Sayyaf even if he has to engage mercenary groups like the feared Nepalese Gurkhas saying that the extremist group left him with no choice.

"You started this. I wanted to talk to you but you leave me with no choice," President Duterte said during a meeting with national security officials including several cabinet members at the Enclaves in Matina, Davao City just a few hundred meters away from his modest subdivision home.

The President, who was obviously hurting from the terror attack which left 16 people dead, including a young child, and over 60 others wounded, however, called on the nation to prepare for reprisals from the terror group similar to the bombing on Davao City's Roxas Blvd. Saturday morning.
"I am calling on the nation to prepare for reprisals. There will be sacrifices to be made but we have to address this problem once and for all," he said.

The Abu Sayyaf, a terror group which identifies itself with the ISIS, has been involved with kidnappings, including the abduction of three foreigners and a Filipino in Samal Island last year.

The group has beheaded two of the three foreigners. Lately, it has also beheaded a young Filipino boy whose parents failed to pay ransom.

The bombing in Davao City early Saturday morning served as the proverbial last straw that broke the camel's back.

"If I have to hire the Gurkhas to help us fight the Abu Sayyaf, I am willing to do it," he told the national security officials and cabinet members.

While he said he believed that the Abu Sayyaf and other extremist groups are products of historical injustices, he said the actions of the group, including kidnapping and beheadings, have made it imperative for government to deal with the problem by force.

"There's no other option. These people are like germs which must be eliminated," the President said.

Currently, several battalions of army soldiers and special forces members have been dispatched in Sulu while Naval forces have provided vessels to undertake a blockade to prevent members of the terror group from fleeing the island.

The meeting with national security officials and several cabinet members started at 11 p.m. and ended at 4 a.m.
