Ongpin wants to donate P2-3 Billion a month for drug rehab



The former chairman of PhilWeb Corporation 
Roberto Ongpin said he's planning to donate P2- 3 billion a month to help the government in providing more drug rehabilitation centers, according to Rappler report.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte tagged Ongpin as one of the oligarchs that have an undue influence on government and he wants to end it in his term. 

Even though Ongpin named among the oligarchs that Duterte wants to destroy. He said he's still very positive about the Duterte's administration.

"I'm still very optimistic about this administration. And I'll continue what I'm doing," Ongpin said in an emergency stockholders' meeting in Makati City on Wednesday.

Based on Forbes, they named Ongpin as the 20th richest in the Philippines with a net worth of $900 million.
On the other hand, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is also donating P1 billion for building new rehabilitation centers for the drug addicts.

San Miguel president and COO Ramon Ang on Thursday said it is their way to show their support for the anti-drug campaign of the administration.

"In the fight against illegal drugs, rehabilitation is crucial to providing drug dependents a chance to restoring their lives and becoming part of the solution to a better Philippines," Ramon Ang said.


According to San Miguel, they already meet and discussed it with Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.

Duterte said he's planning 
to use military camps as a temporary facility to address the lack of Rehabilitation center up until the new buildings will finish.
