Mayors involved in illegal drugs surrender to PNP ahead of Duterte announcement

Both from Lanao del Sur, 2 mayors surrendered to Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronaldo dela Rosa on Friday afternoon.

The two mayors are allegedly involved in illegal drug trade and surrendered before the announcement of President Duterte. Duterte will announce the names of  the narco-politicians in the Philippines.

These two mayors are Maguing Mayor Mamaulan Abinal Molok and former Marantao Mayor Mohammad Ali Abinal.

Another mayor was supposed to surrender that same afternoon but caught in the traffic.

According to the report, PNP dela Rosa said there will be another mayor to surrender this coming Monday.

"They voluntarily surrendered to me personally. They heard and received information that they are in the watchlist of the President, they are included in the 23 mayors who are linked to the drug trade," Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa said that the two mayors admitted their involvement in drug trafficking in Quiapo, Cavite, and Caloocan City.
They decided to surrender because of the fear and learned of the announcement of the 27 local officials involved in illegal drug trade.

"They are no longer involved but before they had been involved [in the drug trade]. They promised to me that...they will be the ones leading the war against drugs in their respective municipalities....They promised to cooperate wholeheartedly," Dela Rosa said.

PNP dela Rosa said the two will turn over to the CIDG.

"to get their statement and whatever, we will be able to extract from them for future reference. We will subject them to custodial investigation," PNP chief  Bato said.
