President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said that the tragedy happened in Mamasapano incident was because of the $5-million bounty to kill the Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Abdhir, also known as Marwan.
"Katong sa Mamasapano ['Yung nangyari sa Mamasapano], it was a question of greed. Puro sila ano, sa SAF, somebody directing them para makuha nila reward $5 million," Duterte said.
There were 44 commandos of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) were killed last January 2015 during their operation to capture Marwan.
According to GMA report in the statement given by Former SAF chief Getulio Napeñas, he admitted that it was really former President Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III who ordered them, from the planning down to the execution of Marwan.
But Napeñas said that he didn't know and didn't ask Aquino if he's running after of the bounty.
Napeñas said that SAF hasn't received any amount from the reward.
Napeñas said.
