Best intel police killed in Antipolo City during buy-bust operation

Senior Insp. Mark Gil Garcia, 37, chief of the special operations unit of the Rizal provincial police, was shot dead during a buy-bust operation on Friday in Sitio Maagay 1, Barangay Inarawan, Antipolo City.

“He is the best intelligence officer I have ever known. He was not expected to be in the operations—he only had to supervise them—but he was there. He was a good leader.” Provincial police chief Senior Supt. Adriano Enong Jr. said in the interview.

Garcia was with a team on their third antidrug mission for the day.

According to Inquirer report, Antipolo police chief, Supt. 
Simnar Gran, the team’s mission is to pretend as a buyer of shabu with two pushers: William Malana and his still unidentified group.

While doing the transaction, Malana sensed the trap and ran to his house, Garcia followed him and as he entered Malana's house, he was shot by the suspect with an improvised shotgun, hitting him in the upper left thigh.

Garcia was brought to Antipolo District Hospital but died two hours later due to blood loss.

“He was one of my most hardworking, efficient and brightest policemen. He worked nonstop,” Senior Supt. Adriano Enong Jr. said at Garcia's wake in Dolores, Taytay.

“I don’t know what will happen to us now. I hope they will provide my children with scholarships considering what (their father) had given to the country and to his profession.” said by Garcia's widow, Judy.

The couple has three children and the youngest is a 2-month-old baby.
