Pacquiao favors death penalty by hanging

Senator Manny Pacquiao got the support of President Rodrigo Duterte last election. In his interview on Monday, same with Duterte, he will be pushing death penalty by hanging.

"Para sa akin bitay, hanging. May batas din ang mga duktor na bawal silang pumatay ng tao," Pacquiao said.

According to Pacquiao, it is more humane for the passing convict as well as for the medical staff who need to help with doing capital punishment regardless of their own convictions and feelings.

Also, he said convict will be pitiful but law is a law, no one is exempted once it is enacted.

"Pag iko-cover mo yan nakakaawa talaga pero alam naman nila na ang batas natin ay batas. Hindi naman individually yan e, kahit na kaming nasa katungkulan, mga nasa serbisyo, kahit na presidente pag gumawa ng masama e [dapat parusahan]," he said.

Pacquiao said they will discuss specific ways on imposing death penalty.

"Wala pa yan pero pag-uusapan naman yan pag naipasa na,"he said.

Aside from that, Senator Panfilo Lacson has already filed a bill for heinous crimes to be punishable by death.

The heinous crimes such as treason; qualified piracy; qualified bribery; parricide; murder; infanticide; rape; kidnapping and serious illegal detention; robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons; destructive arson; plunder; terrorism; carnapping; drug-related cases; trafficking in persons and illegal recruitment, if the act constitutes economic sabotage.
