MPD wants Army reservist wanted ‘dead or alive’

The Manila Police District (MPD) ordered a manhunt against the Army reservist Vhon Martin Tanto who shot the bicycle rider Mark Vincent Geralde after a traffic fight in Quiapo, Manila.

According to the report, MPD director Senior Supt. Joel Coronel said to locate Tanto "dead or alive" after he gave his ultimatum and Tanto didn't show up yesterday at 5 pm.

“The MPD wants him dead or alive. We want him,” Coronel said.

The reservist suspect will face murder and frustrated murder.

Before the shooting incident, Tanto and the victim exchanged punches first. It was caught on the CCTV on Monday night at 9.30 pm.

Tanto was driving a red Hyundai Eon.

Another victim was also hit by a stray bullet, Rocel Bondoc, an 18-year-old girl. She's critical now in Mary Chiles Hospital.

Coronel also cited that policemen must very care and put extra precaution because Tanto is considered as “armed and extremely dangerous”.

According to Tanto's neighbors, the last time they saw him was early noontime. He currently resided in Fraternal corner Arlegui Streets in Quiapo, Manila.

MDP chief said that Tanto owns a licensed caliber 45 pistol and a caliber 40 Glock pistol and they verified it to the bullet shell they recovered at the crime scene.

Military units were also joined to the manhunt.

“Tanto is a reservist of the Philippine Army with the rank of private. He is assigned with the 1301st Community Defense Center National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command based in Caloocan,” Army chief Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año said.
