Manny V. Pangilinan signs agreement to shift the emergency hotline from 117 to 911
PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan signed a memorandum of agreement under the government and private sectors. Both parties agreed to change the emergency number from 117 to 911.
This emergency hotline 911 to be launched in August 2016.
In a report of GMA Network , “This is an agreement between the concerned government agencies such as Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and private sector partners mainly from the Foundation for Crime Prevention (FCP) to transition from Patrol 117 to 911 emergency service,” PLDT spokesman Ramon Isberto told GMA News Online in a text message.
President Duterte and Martin Ardanar already said that the Philippines official emergency hotline would change to 911 like the Davao City emergency hotline.
According to Isberto, Davao City has a very successful 911 emergency service.
" The President wants to disseminate throughout the country to improve emergency services." Isberto said.
The long wait is over, Duterte administration will launch 911 hotline this coming August.
