Mandaue cop found positive in drug test


A police official in Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) in Cebu was found positive for using illegal drugs.

According to Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal, director of MCPO, SPO1 Rey Manatad showed a positive result in a confirmatory test conducted by the PNP Regional Crime Laboratory 7.


“We’ve been suspecting all along that he is into drugs because erratic yung performance nya (his performance was erratic),” Cabal said.

Manatad will face administrative charges. He will charged for being absent without official leave (Awol) and for grave misconduct.

Last May 23, the MCPO mandated a surprise drug test and after that, Manatad stopped reporting to the headquarters.

Manatad was assigned as radio operator in the MCPO headquarters. They already looking for Manatad and dismissed him once located.

On the other hand, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) underwent a surprise drug test to 35 officials.

More than 100 police officers from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 and Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) also underwent a drug test
