Duterte vows pay hike for teachers after to soldiers

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday guaranteed that he will increase the salary of the teachers.

During Duterte's briefing at Camp Guillermo Nakar in Lucena City, he said next to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) salary increase this coming August, he's next priority is the teachers.
"Ito, itong increase of salaries, ang sunod ko mga teachers," Duterte said.

Duterte announced that AFP will have an incremental pay until their salary amount doubled.

Department of Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno said it would be difficult to increase the military's salary because of the government financial problems.

But Diokno said in GMA that they will announce when it is ready.

President Duterte also didn't give any details regarding where he will get funds to increase the salary of the soldiers.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in his interview, "I don't have the details for the first tranche. Although he did give the assurance that it will be fulfilled. Kaya lang talaga, this year is still the budget of last year so he cannot really impose upon it. But he did say that there will be incremental increase and I believe by next month."
