BuCor chief Balutan: NBP drug lords offer P1-M to sneak cellphone inside

Maj. Gen. Alexander Balutan, the incoming Bureau of Corrections chief said that drug lords offered to pay P1 million to sneak cellphone inside the New Bilibid Prison.

According to GMA news on Thursday, in the "Oplan Galugad" or clearing operation done yesterday by the PNP SAF, cellphones, money and signal booster was found inside Building 14.

Incoming chief Balutan said that cellphones is very vital to the high-profile drug lords inmates to send command to their operations outside.
"Walang kuwenta ito kung ikukumpara mo sa mga tini-trade nilang drugs. O-order sila sa China ng mga two hundred kilos, that's worth more or less P200 million. What is one million?" Balutan said.

Balutan said that there are 1000 police personnel including high ranking officials in the BOC involved in corruption.

"Sibakin natin. Dapat sibakin kahit sino pa siya. I have the backing of the President. Sinong matakot?" Balutan said.

Also, food catering was now prohibited because they said it is one way they sneak contraband inside the penitentiary.

Balutan also said they are considering to transfer in the different cells the high-profile inmates.

"They have to be isolated, ma-cut communication nila from their contact, their network," Balutan said.
