President-elect Duterte wants a separate inauguration with Robredo
President-elect Rodrigo Duterte informed the camp of Vice President-elect Leni Robredo that he will take the oath separately on June 30.
Boyet Dy, the head of Robredo’s transition team said on Wednesday that the inauguration ceremony of incoming VP Robredowill be held in Metro Manila.
“We were informed by the team of President-elect Rody Duterte about their preference to hold the inauguration separately.” Boyet Dy said.
"While we have been preparing for a joint inauguration, we respect their decision and will begin our own preparations for a simple and modest ceremony," Dy added.
Dy said that VP Leni Robredo inauguration will be sworn in by Ronaldo Coner, chairman of Barangay Punta Tarawal, Calabanga, "the smallest, farthest and poorest barangay" in the third district of Camarines Sur.
Last election, Leni Robredo won over Bongbong Marcos as the new Vice President. Robredo won by a gap of 263,000 votes.
Duterte's spokeperson said the President Duterte only wanted a simple and frugal inauguration ceremony and that Duterte plans to take his oath in Malacanang so the govenment can save money.
He said that after the ceremony, Duterte will address the national television to spell out his governance in just 5 minutes.
Also, he added that only finger foods will be served before Duterte's inauguration.
"May finger food lang siguro because it's nearing noontime but there will be no eating after," Duterte's spokeperson said.
