Aside from selling the BRP Ang Pangulo, presumptive president-elect Rodrigo Duterte said he will order the conversion of presidential choppers to air-ambulances. The 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (250PAW) is operating presidential aircraft. Duterte said he now plans to sell off the presidential yacht. Duterte did not announce the going price for the vessel, as it would be sold to the highest bidder.
Last year, three brand-new Bell 412EP helicopters from Canada were added to the inventory of 250PAW. These choppers were used during APEC Summit last year.
The three choppers were part of the eight-helicopter deal worth PhP4.8 billion with Canada through Canadian Commercial Corporation. Five of the eight were configured as combat utility helicopters (CUH) to beef up transport and lift capability of the Air Force.
The Presidential Airlift Wing provides aircraft and aircrew for airlift of the President, immediate members of his/her family, visiting Heads of State and other VVIPs.
The air force wing could also perform other functions as directed by higher Headquarters.
